It’s political! Uhh…pretty hard to ignore what’s going on in the world but we’re up to the challenge. I have my own political beliefs but they’re pretty moderate in the current climate and therefore, pretty boring. Sorry. Except I’m not sorry. It’s pure Dada. Whatever message you might have decoded in all this is on you and if you look a little closer (or further away) you can find the exact opposite of whatever you initially thought. What to believe then? Not my problem.

But that’s a cop out. I’ve been working on reorganizing my brain/life. Since this is currently a solo project, I haven’t had anyone else to distract me. Just me and the internet. Nothing gets done. So I’m thinking about these protests. Haven’t been to them and not going to. I generally support that someone’s doing something, but I tend to get burned supporting anything political. It always veers into nonsense. But I love artistic nonsense; some of the best artists believe karazy bullshit. So I don’t know where this thing is going. It’s very much like how I started this band, which was not an original concept there’s just some shared influences. But all of the possibilities have to come down to finite action. For me, it’s records. Albums. Musical recordings collected, with images. Theirs is non-specific political change. Even though I/we have a much better chance getting records made with a very nebulous approach, at some point more structure makes more sense. Maybe an existing structure will do.

Are you a revolutionary or a counter-revolutionary? Not every revolution is automatically good. One may have happened already when you weren’t paying attention. But that’s all America. I think the ideas that people are having are too big for America. The country is physically huge, too diverse. Those are the good things about America, but as far as different kind of societies go, I have more hope for Japan. But this whole thing does make me feel better for the sub/counter culture of America which I feel like was dying. Maybe all these people camped out will start thinking maybe they should just start their own shit, like the kids in huge college debt…they thought they were going to work for some corporation! They might have never thought of being part of a sub-culture. I never thought I’d get “rich”, (or independently middle-class) still don’t. (The option is nice of course.) A lot of the hippies of the 60s became lawyers and stockbrokers, these dudes are mad cause they didn’t get the job! Right out of school, even. With so much debt, you’d have to take that kind of job if offered even if that wasn’t the plan. Better to have a plan.

I’m an asshole.

I’ve been putting off posting stuff anywhere, but I’ve been concentrating my procrastination on Bandcamp. I’ve got these 2 (1/2?) finished albums (from years ago, now) that had very limited CDR runs and are only on last.fm @128k. It would be great to have slightly better sounding, complete recordings presented a little nicer for everyone to not enjoy. Yes, I’ll get right on it. Time passes. Meanwhile, Soundcloud is the perfect place to post unfinished stuff. But I haven’t posted anything there either. (See first paragraph.) I think (!) I’ve gotten a little too caught up it the idea of this old stuff as “finished stuff” anyway. It is finished, I’m not George Lucas-ing it up, but I mean promoting it as something anyone but me would want to go back to and re-experience. It was really just to put anything out there and then build on top of it. It’s the drip castle approach, a metaphor I just pulled out of my ass which might be more than appropriate and I won’t be explaining or going back to.

So I might just post some half-baked stuff until I get something new that feels like a whole album again.

I bet all those people who never had a myspace, or who left when Rupert Murdoch bought the company are feeling pretty smart right now. But I’d like to congratulate everyone who stuck with it. That’s right, we brought it down from the inside! Just like we planned! Ethical triumph!

Yet, comrades, MySpace continues to exist. Without Murdoch, it’s a better populated Reverb Nation or whatever, right? It’s pretty shitty right now, but even at it’s best it always kinda was. I’m keeping both pages up. Why two? Long story. I could just delete the second one at this point if I could change the title of the page but they locked that feature last update. (It was one of those things that made the site kinda fun.) Oh well. I’m going to fix up the pages to look more “final” cause it obviously isn’t a living interactive thing anymore that’s fun to fuck with. It should go without saying that you should not use myspace for contacting…anyone really.
